Keep Dreaming Big

Victory Life Church, Durant — Sunday, July 23, 2023

Psalm 37:3-5 (NKJV) Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.

Proverbs 13:12 (ESV) Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.

“Deferred” — something that is “long drawn out”

“Desire” — longing, yearning, sighing, craving

“Tree of Life” — when that which is longed-for is finally received, it rejuvenates and encourages the heart, like being sustained from the Tree of Life

Discouragement is a strategy of the enemy to make you think small and dream small, and thereby live small.

“Delight” — to refresh oneself, to take pleasure in (Is. 55:2, “rich food”), to be soft, delicate

“Desire” — a request or petition made to God with an expectation of response

1 Corinthians 1:27-29 (NLT) Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God.

Exodus 35:4-5, 20-22 (ESV) Moses said to all the congregation of the people of Israel, “This is the thing that the Lord has commanded. Take from among you a contribution to the Lord. Whoever is of a generous heart, let him bring the Lord’s contribution: gold, silver, and bronze; …

Then all the congregation of the people of Israel departed from the presence of Moses. And they came, everyone whose heart stirred him, and everyone whose spirit moved him, and brought the Lord’s contribution to be used for the tent of meeting, and for all its service, and for the holy garments. So they came, both men and women. All who were of a willing heart brought brooches and earrings and signet rings and armlets, all sorts of gold objects, every man dedicating an offering of gold to the Lord.
