Obey: Ages 0-20 

Honor: Ages 20+ 

• These two affect every area of their lives. 

Age of accountability. 

• Numbers 14:29-30 

• Exodus 30:14 (Temple tax) 

• Numbers 1:18-42 (Go to war)  

 

3 STAGES OF PARENTING 

“Training” (0-10) 

“Teaching” (10-20) 

“Transition” (20+) 

TRAINING 

Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV) 

Child (Heb.): Age of infancy to adolescence. 

Discipline / Rewards & praise / Repetition 

Example: Training a lion. 

TEACHING 

Proverbs 1:8-9 (NKJV) 

Son (Heb.): Youth 

Preparing for marriage / Life skills / Education 

TRANSITION 

Honor continues NOT obedience. 

Leviticus 19:3 (KJV) 

Rebellion was a capital offence.
